Miniseries: Diverse Product Leaders
At Product Teacher, we’re introducing a new miniseries within our Diversity in Product interviews, where we’ll showcase product leaders across different industries.
Led by Yue Jiao, this series explores product leadership in underrepresented groups.
We hope to inspire the next generation of product leaders through surfacing experiences from current leaders who transitioned into leadership roles from individual contributors.

Hello Product People!
I’m a customer success/operations transplant who became obsessed with bettering the user experience. During my transition into Product, I sent out LinkedIn messages introducing myself as someone who is curious about product management and I would ask how someone became a product manager.
I love tech because so many individuals are willing to share their experiences of landing their first tech role! As an early career PM, I’m always searching for ways to connect with and contribute to a greater community of product people through experience sharing.
The idea of an interview series featuring Product Leaders came to me during my job interviews with different product teams. I was always curious about the journeys of hiring managers and higher-level Product execs from Individual contributors to Product (people) Leaders. Many of my peers feel the same way about wanting to understand how someone became the product leader they are today.
What I love about this community is the sheer amount of talent from so many industries and backgrounds! There’s no rule book in product in my opinion, but rather a community of different-minded individuals who aim to build the best products. I hope this series adds value to your journey - whether you’re just product curious or a seasoned veteran!
Cheers,
Yue Jiao (she/they)
What to expect
This miniseries is part of our broader mission to make product management more accessible to everyone!
Yue is actively reducing the “barrier to speaking up” by running these conversational dives with product leaders.
Think of them like podcasts in transcript form, where the conversation and the terminology is a bit more casual and accessible.
We’re humbled to have Yue at the helm here, and we can’t wait to have more public discourse about product management from a variety of crucial perspectives.
